Description:
|
1. The technical assistance (TA) on Mainstreaming Climate Change Risk Management in Development, approved on 14 December 2011 for $7.163 million equivalent, is financed by a grant from the Strategic Climate Fund under the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience. The Executing Agency (EA) is the Ministry of Science and Technology and Environment (MoSTE).
2. The expected impact of the TA is Nepal has increased resilience to climate variability and climate change. The expected outcome of the TA is the GoN's infrastructure development programs, policies and projects incorporate safeguards to address the effects of climate change. The project has three outputs:
• Output 1: Climate change risks are integrated into Nepal's implementation of development projects. The aim of this Output is to integrate climate change risk management into a physical implementation of development projects, with a focus on infrastructure and urban and rural service provision (especially water supplies and sanitation, roads, irrigation).
• Output 2: Knowledge management tools are developed and applied. The aim of this output is to strengthen Nepal’s system for generating, managing, and sharing knowledge as an input to make the country climate resilient.
• Output 3: Outputs from the SPCR and other adaptation programs are managed for results and lessons learned are incorporated into Nepal's climate change program. This output aims to monitor climate change programs in Nepal through a single reporting framework that creates a platform for shared learning and harmonized reporting.
